Who is responsible of getting poor quality device into MOH Hospital?

Look at this drip set.

After pucture the Y-connector a few times, it started to become a 'real drip set'. Drpping and leacking away.

And it is supposed to be a Blood Transfusion set! Imagine that!

We have made a few complaints to the central store and now they no longer supply us with this inferior product but it still came with the patient from the ward... the fights for better healthcare continue...

this most likely happened when the item is purchased without due evaluation by end-users. & the most likely reasons this ended up in your hosp are :

1) it's the cheapest compared to its competitors

2) if it's not the cheapest, the person who made the decision to purchase received a hamper and/or was invited to a sumptuous meal at a 5* hotel and/or is promised a overseas trip to a so-called conference.

Ahh... now at least i know its not only my ward is having this problem! the drip set Y-connector is always leaking, and for those chemo patients on continuous hyperhydration, it is always a hassle for doctors to be paged frequently to change the IV tubing!! :(

They call YOU to change the giving set? That abuse don't you think? It's just hydration, not the cisplatin yet, right?

Sorry, that was for spinosum.

LT, i agree with doc. It happens all the time. The good ones will cost a bomb if you factor in the EXTRA INCENTIVE given out.

The supplier is running a business the way he knows how in this country. I guess one way to do it might be to get the supplier to quote a better product.
