Is there a thing like Pitocin induced AEBA??

I have no idea...

This pt is a 28 y.o lady came in for ERPOC. k/c/o Br. Asthma since 15 y.o. on GP's PRN treamtment. Last attack 1 yr ago. Never been admitted for Br. Asthma.

Pre-op, pt's comfortable, lungs clear... To be safe, I decided for spinal anesthesia with IV Hydrocort 100mg prior to spinal. On further probbing, Pt told that she developed urticaria on last S&C done for molar pregnancy under GA-Hold mask.. She needed intubation in that insident.

Today, midway during the EROPC, pt c/o SOB and wheezing heard. BP, PR, SpO2 all normal. Lungs generalised ronchi++. I proceed with another stat dose of IV Hydrocort 100mg while my nurse prepair for ventolin neb.

Pt needs continous neb for about 30min before ronchi subside and she developed urticaria all over her body in recovery room. IV Piriton 10mg stat given.

My question would be what trigger the asthma attack?? Pt was 1st given IV Hydrocort 100mg, followed by 0.5% Heavy Marcaine 2.6ml intrathecally for SAB. IVD was Hartmann's solution. IV Pitocin 10 unit given mid procedure on surgeon's request.

So could it be Pitocin?? Anybody had similar xpi b4?? Pls comment. Thanx.
