New On-Call Allowances

So there it is... We were just talking about it the other day over here right? And the news came out that night itself...

Well, I think this is a long awaiting raised that every govt doctors welcome. However we are still far behind in compensating the sacrifies a doctor or even other paraclinicals have to put up in the service.

Active call houseman gets rm4.17/hr and MO gets rm6.25/hr. Are we happy now? Shall we? How about the working environments? My JMO still have to sleeps on the floor/sofa/patient's trolly when they are on call - if they get too sleep. The hostile working environments with top men in our own ministry calling us "Tardy doctors" and many more...

Anyway, it's still a positive sign and the effort taken by the Minister, the SCHOMOS, and all the others involved is very much appreciated!

aiyoh, LT, the JMO in your hospital still have to sleep on floor/ sofa/ patient's trolly when on call? At least the hospital i work in currently offers better facilities for those HOs/JMOs...

But i do still recall the times during my housemanship long long time ago, whereby i face the similar situations as well... no proper on call room for HOs (in certain departments only) and if get the chance to sleep at night time, i have to resort to sleeping on sofa/chair/dressing trollies. I work in another hospital at that time. I don't know whether the situations have improve nowadays or not...

Those were the days ... :)

Yeah, when I was an O&G houseman, I usually sleep in the scan room.
I think the situation still the same nowadays, scan room, sister's room (provided sister on-call not the LR sister) or PE room is there's empty bed.

Ha... thinking of those days... actually, i met my wife when we were on call in the labour room. So, that was sweet and sour memory. We don't have proper call room like the mo, hos are like cheap labours. Anyway, i got no regards, right LT?

LT:
remember the on call room in HBM? well, the aircon in the call room is spoiled right, if you on it, it was so loud and just like the train past by. What i used to do, i open the fridge door to cool the room, sound stupid. but i do like the bed, soft. Now, the MO call room, well, i do have to make a comment, bit messy, i can't stand it, if am on call on Sunday, if am not too busy, i will clean it.
