White coat again!
Today we are all reminded by our HOD that we too have to wear our white coat whenever we are seeing patients outside OT and ICU! i.e during premed rounds, APS rounds, resuscitation etc...This is really crazy! I'm gonna continue to wear scrub shirt and pants whenever I get an urgent referal to see in the ward or A&E.
Again I'd like to state that white coat and tie had been proven a source of nosocomial infection. I personally think that putting patient's and own's health at risk is not professionalism as opposed to what our DG thought. It is OK for him to wear a white coat for his once a week rounds in Selayang but not for us running the frontline work in the wards.
P/S: Microbial flora on doctors' white coats.

yeah.. i do agree.. very inconvenient n disturbing. My HOD said the same things to us as well last week.. Aiyoh.. imagine wearing white coats while doing rounds inside ICU and doing peripheral rounds or seeing premeds... :(
Yes, i totally agree with you two guys!
These adm peoples are those sitting in the office with the Tag DR in front. Do they really know what the hell is happening in the wad or hospital? STUPID PEOPLE.
white coat?? how about white coat syndrome? Heard that? DG??? White coat carry bugs man, DG Wake up!! Don't think that you are DG and simply order these stupid thing, how about DG wearing a White Coat and there is a patient collapes and ask the DG with WHITE COAT to perform CPR on that patient!!! or maybe that time, he will give the usual Order!! give this stat and that, ask for the anest for help, blar blar blar....
think man DG!! white coat doesn't treat the patients, it is the brain and the work!!! not appearance!!!
Chen: So r u guys doing that now? We r still bussiness as usual here... no white coat in our unit yet. :)
So u'r in HPP ah? Cheers.

Some of the doctors in my hospital (especially the housemen) are walking around with whitecoats that have probably never been washed for several months. If attempting to look professional just by putting on a whitecoat really matters that much lets just ask our patients who looks more professional, a doctor in a grubby whitecoat or one who is pleasantly and appropriately dressed? Maybe the DG should just concentrate on other more important matters such as our work conditions and ridiculous on call allowance (of RM4 an hour - just slightly more than working at KFC) rather than pressing on these trivial matters.
Pamdoc: thanx for the headup.
Anonymous: Agree. but how do u get the rm4/hr?
My calculation shows a HO gets rm1.04/hr and a MO gets rm3.125/hr on a 24hr calls.
LT,
we r even asked to wear white coats during our pre med rounds on Sunday :(
But i don't care lah...
I only wear my white coats on Saturday only.. twice a week.. Other days, during my rounds in ICU or peripheral rounds or premed rounds.. forget about it lah.. either wear my own attires or the ICU blue baju...

I think we are considered as "cheap labours" if looking at the amount we get.. :( Even those who works in McD or fastfood outlets earn more.. :(
Gasman, do u think any of the KKM's doctor will say no? Hahaa..
BTW, last time I read from Berita MMA, someone said that the issue is being studied by the central agency now.
Let's keep our fingers cross.. knowing the speed they take to roll out good things (bad things very fast, over the night!).
Chen: I trusted u all mah... :) Since none of u all 'invited' me into the OT, I think it's the proper etiquette to wait outside rather then to go in ka-ka-cau-cau...
